Loose Association is inspired by original compositions of band leader Brian Mullins that have a contemporary vintage sound. Brian has interwoven world influences into the music from his travels in Central America, Europe, and Ireland. The vintage element originates from the group having a deep appreciation rooted in the jazz standards and from the groups unique instrumentation. Brian plays tenor guitar and Doug Yager plays tenor and C-melody saxophones. The C-melody is seldom used in traditional jazz combos and dates back to the bands of the 1920s. Dave Willey plays piano and accordion. Mike Fitzmaurice plays upright bass. Whether performing original tunes or jazz standards, Loose Association wants the listener to have a fun and dynamic experience.
